The booklet is designed for facilitators, adult educators, artists, and community workers engaged in intercultural learning, gender equality, and community-building processes. It offers a structured yet flexible framework based on five thematic “portals,” guiding readers from group-building and story creation to storytelling, reflection, and collective action.
Grounded in participatory methodologies such as Augusto Boal’s Forum Theatre, Paulo Freire’s critical pedagogy, and experiential learning, the publication emphasizes storytelling as a tool for knowledge creation, empowerment, and social change. The exercises can be adapted to different contexts and themes, making the booklet a practical resource for those working with diverse communities.
The booklet was developed within the framework of the MARIO programme (Minorities, Accountability, Rights, Independence and Organisational Development), managed by Minority Rights Group and co-funded by the European Union.
