From Stories to Strategies: Women, Identity, and Influence

From Stories to Strategies: Women, Identity, and Influence

This article explores how women’s individual and collective storytelling across the Euro-Mediterranean region becomes a strategy for social change, policy advocacy and gender equality grounded in justice. Drawing on examples from digital platforms, education, women’s entrepreneurship and public art, it shows how women’s narratives can expose visible and invisible inequalities, challenge gender stereotypes and inform more inclusive and intersectional policies. The article also examines what is needed to transform stories into sustainable strategies. It calls for safe and inclusive spaces, sustainable funding models for grassroots women’s organisations, investment in digital and economic skills, gender-sensitive education, public-space arts and cultural diplomacy. Rather than treating women only as storytellers or beneficiaries, it calls on policymakers and social actors to recognise women from diverse backgrounds as equal partners in shaping policies, public narratives and socially just futures across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
